Meeting Danita!!!!

This was so exciting that I actually cried I was so overly excited at one point.  God that was embarrassing!  But anyway...I had been dying to meet this amazing girl ever since I first found her art through Somerset Studio in March of 2010.  I got a couple of her prints for William's room when I was pregnant, and I just have really been a huge fan of hers for the past 4 1/2 years.  Then, when I read she was coming to Oregon to teach at an Art Camp, I was like OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG YES YES YES YES YES PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yeah I was excited to like a crazy degree!  Yeah.  It was amazing to meet her!

Tristesse the sad little mermaid painting

Somehow this little mermaid turned out sad.  But that's ok.  Sometimes we're sad.  That's life!  One day, my hubby and I were being silly and we were discussing this sad little mermaid, and what possible reason she might have to be sad.  So we made up a little history for her that would explain the sadness...
Once upon a time there was a beautiful little mermaid who lived along the shores of the Baltic Sea with her seven sisters, her father, and her mother...For 20 years she lived without a care, until one day there was the most terrible storm anyone had ever witnessed.  During the storm as her and her family were trying to weather the storm, she was knocked unconscious by a huge piece of driftwood. When she awoke, she discovered she was all alone in the world.  She began wailing in despair, weeping great tears of infinite sorrow...these tears solidified and became tiny drops of beautiful Baltic Amber, which eventually washed ashore and brought joy to many people.  She continues to swim the Baltic Sea, with her sorrow as her only companion.
This original painting is for sale at my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/inara77
and she is also available as an art print or printed on fun items at my online shop: https://society6.com/product/sad-little-mermaid_print#1=45

Transitioning into October

When we got home from France I finally felt good enough for the first time in 4 years to actually start decorating our house!  I finally finished in June of 2015, and I am quite satisfied with the resulting cuteness!
My boys just being their cute selves!
